The Sinyavino Offensive was an operation planned by the Soviet Union in the summer of 1942 with the aim of breaking the siege of Leningrad, which had begun the previous year, and establishing a reliable supply line to the city. Although the Soviet offensive failed, the heavy losses forced the German forces to shift to the defensive.
Operation "Iskra" ("Spark") was a Soviet military operation carried out in January 1943 with the goal of breaking the siege of Leningrad. Planning for the operation began shortly after the failure of the Sinyavino Offensive. As a result of the operation, a land corridor was created, allowing a railway line to be constructed for supplying the city and greatly reducing the chances of the city being captured or of German and Finnish forces linking up.
Іскра: Коридор смерті is a two-player game featuring separate scenarios for both operations, which can be played on two separate maps.
