Marignan 1515: The Ride of Francis I in Italy

1515? The answer sounds like an evidence: Marignan! But who knows where is located Marignan? That the battle occurs the 13 and 14 of September? That it is won against Swiss at the pinnacle of their power? That more than half of the French army are German lansquenets? To conquer the far-off Duchy of Milan, Francis I throw himself into the melee taking foolish risks, mindful of a knightly behavior. However, neither his feats of arms nor his courage earned the young king of France the victory, but rather the huge financial resources provided for him by the most numerous people of Europe. Seldom was a battle so fiercely fought: 12,000 dead in sixteen hours! The divisions opposing the Swiss, the fury that they so often show, their braveness and their relentlessness when fighting all give a particular human depth to this campaign.

L’or and l’acier (Gold and Steel): The wars of the beginning of the Renaissance — 1453–1526 is a series that simulates at the strategic-operational level the campaigns of the end of the 15th century and beginning of the 16th century, with a tactical resolution of the battles and sieges.
