Description
Two Russian armies were ordered to destroy German troops in East Prussia. 1st Army of General Rennenkampf attacked from the east, while, and 2nd Army of General Samsonov attacked from the south. Numerical superiority of Russians seemed be a warranty of success, but shortages of supply and lack of cooperation between both high commanders led to the complete defeat. The Germans managed to destroy both Russian armies in the separate battles.
